Tamworth Indoor Bowls Club was founded in 1989. The Club suffered a disastrous fire in February 1990 and was completely rebuilt and re-opened in September 1990, hence the Phoenix in the Club logo. We are the only indoor bowls club in Staffordshire. We are a wholly owned private club with 400 members. The club is affiliated to both County and National bodies for both ladies and gentlemen. The Club Articles of Association embody the fact that the club welcomes applications for membership from the widest spectrum of the community. We welcome bowlers of all abilities from beginners to world champions. We have an active junior section with coaching every Saturday morning. Junior members are welcomed in Club leagues and competitions. Our Ladies meet every Wednesday afternoon to play friendly triples and inter-club games. For our disabled colleagues we have separate parking, disabled toilets, bowls wheelchairs and easy green access. The bowling surface is six rinks of Greengauge carpet on underlay on a wood base. The excellent green lighting is computer designed and we have electronic scoreboards. For non-bowlers we have a raised viewing area with comfortable seating. We have a bar, comfortable lounge and restaurant. The Club is managed by a Board of Directors responsible for policy, financial matters and everyday running of the Club, Bowling matters are controlled by a Management Committee made up of elected Club members. We also have a sister outdoor club here at Amington with a county standard green and a full and varied summer programme with affiliation to local, county and national bodies.
