Tamworth Indoor Bowls Club welcomes members of the Police Force, Ambulance and Fire Service and our facilities are available during opening hours, should any of the Emergency Service personnel get "caught short" whilst out and about.
Tamworth Indoor Bowls Club was founded in 1989 and is the only indoor bowls club in Staffordshire. The Club suffered a disastrous fire in February 1990 and was completely rebuilt and re-opened in September 1990, hence the Phoenix in the Club logo.
We are a wholly owned private club affiliated to both County and National bodies for both ladies and gentlemen, boasting around 500 members. The Club Articles of Association (available in 'Downloads') embody the fact that the club invites applications for membership from the widest spectrum of the community, welcoming bowlers of all abilities from beginners to world champions.
A team of qualified Coaches is available every Saturday morning to assist new bowlers.
The Club runs an active junior section with coaching every Sunday morning. Junior members are welcome to play in Club leagues and competitions and friendlies.
The Ladies host a number of events on a Wednesday afternoon, friendly and inter-club matches, gentlemen are welcome to play as well. The WOW competition is also run over the winter season, now in its fourth year and is a very popular event for everyone.
The bowling surface is six rinks of Greengauge carpet on underlay on a wood base. The excellent Rinks LED lighting is computer designed and we have electronic scoreboards.
The Club is managed by a Board of Directors responsible for policy, financial matters and everyday running of the Club, with bowling matters being controlled by a Management Committee made up of elected Club members.
We also have a sister outdoor club here at Amington which is affiliated to local, county and national bodies. A full and varied summer programme is played on a county standard green.
When not bowling, members and visitors may relax in our attractive lounge and take advantage of a fully stocked bar serving drinks at very competitive prices. Meals and snacks are also available - please view the 'Catering' page.
